- Not too long as to avoid fatigue
- Track screws designed to be used on model railways and specifically flexible track
- Better hold than nails and pins
- Allows easy removal without damaging the track
- Easier and safer to fit than pins as they do not require a hammer
- Self tapping: will create their own thread into the wood. No pre-drilling required unless screwing into hard wood
